African Fun Day 2010 Promoting Unity Among Africans in the Diaspora

2010 is here Hurray and the African Fun Day 2010 is on!. Due to the number of registered countries, we will have to make the soccer piece a 2 day Tournament. Details as follows: Qualifying Matches

Date: Sun 9/5/2010

Time: 4.30pm to 7:00pm

Where:  Lighthouse School Soccer Field 5100 Blue Hole Rd next to the Miniature golf course by Walgreens at the corner of Bell Rd and Blue Hole Rd and the remaining on Mon Labor Day from 9am 

Remaining matches start at 9am to 8pm on Monday Labor day at the Lavergne Veterans Park 115 Floyd Mayfield Dr, Lavergne, TN 37086

Boy! This fun day has blown up! Highlights: Showcase of talent and Live bands including performance by the famous Resurrected Peoples Church Band, The incredible Redeemed Outreach Choir, Master percussionist Okyerema Asante, High Life Veteran AB Crentsil, Reviving Gold Coast Highlife with Nana Ashrifi and more.. 

Games Include The African Cup of Nations- TN South Africa 2010 Continues right here in Nashville, TN, Gele tying Competition, Ping Pong, Volley ball, Tug of War various board Games

Kids activities include, bouncers, water play- please bring change of clothes and towels for the kids, lime and spoon race, sack race and talent display and more

Congratulations to 2009 African Cup of Nations Champions- Sudan and 2008 Champions Nigeria. The heat is on with new teams from Ethiopia, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Eritrea, Somalia, Liberia as well as more prepared teams like Congo and Ghana ...

Mark your calendar to be part of the largest outdoor African event in TN. It has been an amazing 2 years and we are excited about this year.  This is an event you don't want to miss! Naija, time to put your Soccer game face on! Sudan is bent on winning 3 years in a row so they can keep the cup.
Yeah! The heat on! Congo has started practicing early this year and eating a lot of Kuanga for strenght :)
Ei Ghanaian men! Hmm the tug of war is coming back this year! Remember what  the Ghanaian ladies told you last year. If  U lose again this year, more no more fufu or kenkey for you 1 year.
I wonder what Mama Taiwo and his crew have in mind this year! The Gele tying competition was something else last year!

Each participating country would have a grill going.   Please we'll need more folks to bring their grills this year! It was a challenge for few people grilling to keep up with the hundreds of mouths ready to eat. Thanks for the guys that stepped up to the plate! Emma, Jaga, Amanze and all. As for the Suya/Khebab, as soon as it was thrown on the grill, it had names on it and the owners were standing right there waiting for it to get done!

Highlights this year!

Live musical performances, Skits, More Games, more food- for those of you there last year! Boy! the food was AWESOME! Thanks to Chef Baba of Gateway 2 Africa's Cuisine D'Afrique, Ms Uche Falodun, Maimie Sikisi and her congolese crew, sister Ama, sister Abena and the Ghanaian crew. Food! Shhhhh!! I overheard something about killing a cow this year! Na waaa oh!
How about the corporate prayer! Never have this many Africans in TN gathered in one place, holding hands and praying. Breaking religious and denominational barriers. Proud of ya'll

Last year's Fun Day was a BLAST but this year will be KIKIM!
